"Move Over, Apple! My Tablet Cost $200"

Move Over, Apple! My Tablet Cost $200, article.
Has some interesting thoughts about the fast-developing tablet market, and pricing in it.
I wonder how long it'll be before tablets are priced like pocket calculators, basic models given away for promotion, top scientific models costing $39? Five years? Eight?

The rooted Nook Color is as close to a perfect 7” as presently exists. I've had one since December and have literally loved it to pieces (the first one is dinged up and used to test new configurations and development while I always carry the second one). Quite a few sub $200 “Shenzen” tablest are excellent as well. My Telepad 10.1 is quite spectacular. And the XO-3 pushes this down to $75 in the near future:

The big heavy expensive proprietary monolithic tablet is a spectacular idiocy:

The tablet really becomes amazing when it is dirt cheap, plentiful, context aware, and ubiquitous. As to be expected, Xerox PARC was 20 years ahead of the curve on this:

Steve Jobs does steal from the best!

What does a world with ubiquitously connected tablets and touchscreen surfaces look like:

Thank you.

The XO-3 is very ambitious, and quite interesting. Especially if they succeed in making it all plastic and thus hopefully very light.
