Running iOS apps on Mac?

Some pretty serious apps exist now for iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch). For example I just saw there's a new app for managing your real estate!

I wonder if Apple is considering making emulation software which will let one run iOS apps on a Mac? I would if I were them. I am sure many people, if they choose to take their laptop with them one day instead of their iPad, will be missing a couple of their favorite games, or even production apps. Why not let all the apps run on Mac as well? They are clearly merging the use-and-feel of the two OSes anyway. And they tell us iOS is OS X based, so...

For some reason I have a feeling that 1: many would find it very cool. And 2: it won't happen. I'm not sure why it feels that way to me, but I'm right most of the time. And lo: iBooks you buy in the Apple iBooks store, you can't even read on a Mac! Amazon provides e-readers for virtually every device on the Earth, I'd almost not be surprised if they came out with one for iPod Nano!
